Oxfam Trailwalker 2023 ended with 2,583 people completing the 100 km trail

The Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW), one of the largest hiking fundraisers organised by Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK), ended successfully this morning. This year, 2,583 participants, or 86.88 per cent, completed the OTW. In just 12 hours and 42 minutes, team no. 8001 was the first team to complete Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW) 2023. Their team members are Shing Tung Leung, Wai Yip Leung, Xiao Ming Ye, Kin ka Lam. The last team (team no. 1295) crossed the finish line in Tuen Mun at 12:45 pm today, completing the challenging 100 km trail in 46 hours and 45 minutes.

 

Michael Wong, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Oxfam Hong Kong, said: ‘The faith and perseverance demonstrated by Oxfam Trailwalkers not only go beyond personal satisfaction and team accomplishments, they also improve the lives of people living in poverty around the world.’ All funds raised will be used to support Oxfam's work on needed ones under climate inequality, poverty alleviation projects, disaster relief and advocacy to improve the lives of the poor in Hong Kong and around the world.’

 

In teams of four participants of OTW 2023 aim to complete the 100 km trail, which runs along the MacLehose Trail and other trails within 48 hours. The OTW trail begins in Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung and ends at Crossroads Foundation in Tuen Mun (former Perowne Camp).

 

OTW 2024 is tentatively scheduled on 15-17 November 2024. The OTW is one of the largest hiking fundraising events in Hong Kong. All funds raised through the event will go towards OHK’s poverty alleviation projects, and disaster relief and advocacy work to improve the lives of people living in poverty in Hong Kong and around the world.
